Arc Reactors

Posted by Andy | | Posted On Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:37 PM

Hey!

So, boy, has it been a busy week. Being the week of finals and all, it might make one's life a bit cynical.

Anyway.

In case you didn't know, this coming Thursday is opening night for Iron Man 2! God, I cannot wait. So, in the spirit of total bad-assed-ness, we decided to make Arc Reactors from the first movie.

Here's what we were going off of:

(Sorry I couldn't find a better reference picture)

Anyway. The idea was to create the arc reactor off of a tap light base, so that the light in the center would be self powered and wouldn't need a battery pack, and we wouldn't have to deal with those PESKY wires.

So, after four hours, and my fingers thouroughly stained by distressing ink, we have ARC REACTORS.

Pikachu Hats

Posted by Jimmy | | Posted On Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 7:19 PM

Alright, this entry is LONG overdue. Complications with my phone kept me from sending these fascinating photographs forward for feasting your eyes upon. How's THAT for alliteration! Anyways, let's get this show on the road!
Having successfully completed the mudkipz hats, with exponential success I might add, we began our latest venture: Pikachu Hats (And one Cat Hat, see prior post!)! In the image you can observe sights never before observed! To your left, the remnants of the Mudkipz reference pictures. To your right, the completed Pikachu hat in its two-dimensional form (it had to m-shift to get that way). And center, right before your very eyes: a pre-Pikachu hat. One might say, still in its infancy. Fetal, if you will... MOVING ON!

Yo HO! What do we have here? Socks? ON THE FLOOR!? I'll be jiggered, how did those get there? Rest assured, they are there no more. What's that? What is that glorious golden garment you ask? Why, tis none other than the Pikachu hat! In it's EVOLVED form! (And we didn't even have to use a thunder stone!) Also of note, one might catch a glimpse of the majestic mudkipz having a sleep upon yonder sofa.

Welp, that's all from me for tonight. I leave you with my heartfelt goodbyes... and also these comical pictures of my parents in said Mudkipz hats. TALLY HO!

Makin' Hats

Hey.

So, if you see below this post, Jimmy is now able to write on our blog! Yaaaay.

Anyway. If you read his post, we were making more hats today. The mudkipz hats was a huge success when we wore them into class, and no one, and I mean NO ONE believed we made them. Now, THAT is a compliment.

Since then, we've made two more. I made my girlfriend a hat. It's pretty much a beanie with cat ears. Here's where the inspiration came from

And this was our take on it.

Not bad at all...

Also, Jim made a pikachu hat, but I only have one dark, blurry picture, that won't upload. :/

Expect to hear from Jimmy more often now.

Damn right!

Oh man, oh man! I've always wanted to write on the blog! It's my turn to shine! VICTORY!!
Today, following the MASSIVE success of the mudkipz hats, we begin our new adventure: PIKACHU HATS (plus one cat hat, but that's another story entirely). Pics to come.

Mudkip Hat!

Hey.

Because Jim and I like to keep up with internet stuff, it was time we made a Mudkip hat!

If you don't know, Mudkip is a pokemon that got unreasonable amount of attention on the internet. So we made a hat. I'm tired, so I don't feel like typing much.

Here's some pictures.

Medieval Gauntlets Update

Posted by Andy | | Posted On Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 9:20 PM

Hey.

So things went pretty smoothly today. We got another gauntlet done. This one went actually a lot smoother in that everything came together quite nice. The only problem is that as we went on with this one, we found more and more things wrong with the previous one. So instead of fixing the mistakes on the second one, we decided to simply copy the wrong one. That way they match.

Also, we made a helmet, but it was such a colossal failure that we only got one pic. Still looks cool though.

Medieval Gauntlets

Hey.

Just a quick update before I head to work. The same day the SMG was finished, we also built a single gauntlet. It was a cool build, but pretty time consuming. The second one is on its way.

Halo Weapons Build 3

Hey.

So yesterday was an eventful day, and for many reasons, but namely that the SMG is done! When we started we scaled blueprints and cut cardboard. Since then we coated it in a few layers of fiberglass resin to give it a platic-y feel, and painted. The whole project I would say rounded out at about 30 hours. The next step is to get a molding kit and start making them out of plastic.

Hey.

Sorry I'm a little late. This post technically should've happened a few days ago, but here it is.

So, the SMG is really coming along. Next step is to resin and paint. Depending on how good that turns out, will change whether we mold or not.

And now...some pictures.
